SIR EMEKA OFFOR FOUNDATION: GIVING TO THE NEEDY

"There are people in the world so hungry that God cannot appear to
them except in the form of bread" - Mahatma Gandhi

The above quote is exactly what Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF)was
established to achieve, since its creation in 2006. SEOF was founded
by no other person than Sir Emeka Offor of the Chrome Group as a way
of giving back to the society what God has blessed him with. As a
personal initiative of the founder, SEOF is solely funded by just one
man, Sir Emeka Offor.
This foundation just like any other foundation was set up to cater for
the less privileged in the society has a quiet and humble beginning in
the remote village of Oraifite, the home town of the founder. But with
effort and the financial backing from Sir Emeka Offor, it has traverse
from a mere grassroots non- governmental organization to aid the
indigent people of Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government of Anambra
state to an international one, with its presence in many countries of
Africa. And can compete with the likes of Carter foundation, etc,
considering the number of people, benefitting from it and the millions
of naira, the founder has committed to its activities, single
handedly.
The foundation's intervention programmes are anchored through the
following schemes:
*.Youth Empowerment Scheme
*.Widows Cooperative Scheme
*.Education Scholarship Scheme
*.Health Scheme
*.Infrastructure Development Scheme
These various schemes, one would notice that it covers what majority
of the indigent people has as their problems. The youth empowerment
scheme trains hundreds of young people in vocational skills, so as to
enable them to be self reliant and employers of labour. The foundation
not only paying the school fees in their various institute, but also
placed them on monthly allowance of Ten Thousand Naira( #10,000.00)
throughout the duration of their training, ranging from twelve to
twenty- four months. This succinctly provides the meaning of the adage
of teaching one how to catch fish, rather than mere giving him fish,
so that whenever he is hungry, he can fish for himself.
Looking at the performance of SEOF so far, one would not but ask for
more blessings for the man behind the mask, SIR EMEKA OFFOR. More
powers to your elbow.
